Harry Hill + Laurel & Hardy @slapstickfest.bsky.social. My daughter's 28, we're both giant-Stouffer-sized Harry Hill fans but... she had NEVER seen Laurel & Hardy before! How lucky I was, child of the 80's & it was essential school holiday viewing. 'Wax eater' is our new insult of choice!
Harry Hill knows how to make an entrance!

It was great pleasure to have the legendary comedian in conversation with director Sean Foley on why Laurel and Hardy still matter and showcasing his favourites at Bristol Megascreen. See more from the event below 👇

First year I've missed Slapstick and of course this happens.

Best time I went was the 2020 festival with the lovely Tim Brooke Taylor, Graham Garden, Barry Cyrer, Bill Oddie, etc 'I'm Sorry I'll Read that Again' and 'Goodies' events.

Happy it is still going strong, even with such losses. Support!

Earlier this week I interviewed Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais for @slapstickfest.bsky.social. Brilliant comedy writers, their work has been a steady presence through many years of my life. We talked for 20 minutes about The Likely Lads for this afternoon’s event. Could have talked for hours.

Love him or loath him; you can’t argue that he had a fantastic screen presence!

Early highlight from @slapstickfest.bsky.social is Buster Keaton en francais in The King of the Champs-Élysées. My first sound Keaton and probably the best. The intro by Polly Rose was also delightful.

Now here is a first for me thanks to Slapstick fest, Buster Keaton not only in sound, but en francais! True, it was dubbed but still, it’s certainly a very unique way to enjoy the work of ol’ stone fa...
