Heard an interview today where a guy said (and I'm paraphrasing) "LLMs have had years to train on every aspect of chess, read every book and article about it, review every match, but when they play, they STILL makes illegal moves. That tells you everything."

And.

Yup.

No cheating: post your lock screen.

This is a photo I took near the Tate Modern, South Bank. Just loved how the sun reflected off the black glass surface.

ok.

so the feed using #ukwriter or #ukwriter seems to be working as planned. which is good.

i hope uk based writers make use of it. sometimes it is nice to connect with writers with the same background and experiences. i’ve tried the other writing feeds but often they are full of just people

#worldbookday2026 is fast approaching. i used to work as a teacher, was an english coordinator, and was also on the other side as a children’s author visiting #schools.

here’s a few tips for schools based on experience:

1) have a guide around the school building. it can be an adult or pupils.

as an outsider looking in to the usa politics we can’t help feeling it is fucked.

trump and his maga loons seem unstoppable.

the democrat reps still trying to play nice and appease. they are impotent.

as a british citizen we know how a policy of appeasement went in ww2 with one of our leaders.

Art Garfunkel with ‘Bright Eyes’ brought about the decline of great britain as a nation.

prove me wrong.

if you are wondering what the top recommended writing spot for turnpike/wood green is, its is the @allgoodbookshop.co.uk

i wouldn’t be doing my job if i didn’t mention that fact.
but it is pleasing to know the place i help run is the top recommendation.
February 18, 2026 at 12:38 AM
i had planned to go out today and find a spot somewhere to write.

local bars to me didn’t open until 4pm.

finding somewhere around turnpike/wood green is proving tricky.

my old haunt no longer serves coffee and there’s no way i can write knocking back booze at 10am in the morning. it’s also given

got motivated today and wrote just under 2,000 words of wip.

have received back draft of last novel from a couple of betas.

now the question: leave current wip while striking hot or return to last novel for editing?

can i manage to work on both?

have i got that level of focus?
