1971 👀
Artist and activist Caroline Coon wearing a Kansai Yamomoto catsuit in 1971. She was unusual in the UK counterculture insofar as, instead of sitting around seeing utopias in a cloud of hash smoke, she organised, administrated and actually helped people.

Lovely thread on Neil Innes’ songs. The Elton John one is 👌
A quick little throwaway tune in RUTLAND WEEKEND TELEVISION from the late, great Neil Innes.

I'd love to hear various artists cover this ditty in concert... (Which artist will take up the challenge first?)

Great mini thread
It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

This is fake duck. It’s lucky it wasn’t named by the people who called fake bacon ‘Facon’.

Have to say, I haven’t auto-translated this yet but that first line looks particularly juicy:

Just watching the Real Housewives of Dubai ( ITV2). Unbelievably, the cast ( it’s a talk show format atm) are making good points about the safety of the place versus the US. One of the cast lost their brother to (US) gun violence. They’ve left us hanging (ads) about ‘Sergio’s racist tweets’…

Tell you what I hadn’t clued into till recently: ‘berg’ in German is mountain ( mount) and that Battenberg is German for Mountbatten.

No idea why I missed this as it’s quite obvious and just a sleight of hand

Of course, the main problem with the Corporation is that news thinks it's the reason the BBC exists. It isn't. In the formative years of the Corporation, news was a part of it, but it wasn't the main event. The BBC's reputation was only partially made by news. The other stuff matters more.

Thoroughly enjoying the #GirlbandsForever series on iPlayer. Last one tonight.

25 years ago, this stuff was just background noise to one’s life; songs you hear but don’t even know the artists. Good to put names to sounds. Oh, and the music biz being still, after 50 years (then), absolute shite
