I think in this day and age I'm no longer the target audience for hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. I think the slightly cynical and satirical irony of it all no longer hits the same way these days. I need a narrative tone that is both angry and hopeful, and douglas adams didn't live in my times.

tolkien really was like dwarves have a language that they prize highly and have meticulously preserved for millennia as a language of lore and history and it has an ideographic writing system but they also write it in the cirth of daeron—but they were not skilled linguists

conclave was good but for a movie that had so far addressed how men serve an ideal but are not the ideal & need to settle on the least worst and that's a kind of moral defeat, the ending was a mix of caricatural evil, external plot device, and SURPRISE QUEER PROGRESS. idk if it knew itself anymore.

Something I often notice with sci-fi visuals is that places have a cohesive look, one architectural style, no layering of motifs, no aesthetical clashing of buildings designed centuries and millennia apart. I am too art history pilled for that kind of set design.
