If Vaiya somehow ended up without Artyom or Star, she'd be alone. She originally intended to live life romanceless, and Artyom was her Only Exception. And then Star slipped into her heart too. Neither were expected at all.

Honestly if Star never met Artyom or Vaiya, she would just be constantly running away from Aymeric and maybe a small chance to find love back in Limsa but most likely, she would be alone after all she has been through.

Quickly formulating a strategy to even the odds, using her speed and clever guile to get her hands on any sort of weapon again- a foci for casting or an impromptu dagger will do just fine.
Vaiya is not physically strong and isn't tanky either. Her pride despises tactical retreat, but she'll do it.

Vaiya is that high skill floor character that seems very weak at low levels but is fury-inducing when played skillfully. She's fragile but incredibly hard to hit, and has counters for nearly anything if you know how to string her combos correctly.
