"Alphabet is issuing 100-year debt as part of a significant bond sale"

I wonder why they would do this......

Why and where did they get these bargain bin hockey refs for the olympics?

Looking at the medal counts, Switzerland should get involved in more of the boring sports, like skiing without mountains, ice skating without sticks and pucks, or... luge.

Having moved up north I thought it's time to finally read Weber's "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism"

... what an exercise in eurocentric (except Italy, of course) idealism. 1 out of 5 stars because there are some interesting parts about protestantism.

Maybe don't put Canadian refs on the ice when Canada plays?
February 13, 2026 at 9:24 PM
Bad idea to take penalties against the Canadians...

Yes, I'm tired, but I have to catch up on a whole day of winter Olympics... So far, curling and ice hockey have gone well

Aside from the grift. The underlying assumption that a parent, and not a village, successfully raises a child tells me all I need to know.
“She compares her work to the efforts of a parent raising a child. She’s training Claude to detect the difference between right and wrong while imbuing it with unique personality traits.”

It's almost as if it's all about extracting more surplus value. Even European liberals have known this since David Ricardo... well over 200 years.

I once played Playstation (NHL17 or 18) with a freshly broken thumb and lost badly. That was obviously stupid but at least didn't negatively affect everyone playing after me...

Spending 3.5% of the GDP (not the budget) on "defence" is utterly insane if you can't print dollars

The country that bombed more than 30 other countries since it was the only country to actually use nuclear weapons (to bomb civilian population centres) did what!?
The country built on the bones of an entire continent using forced labour did what!?
