Today for the first time in decades, a new oral antibiotic to treat urinary tract infections was approved by the FDA

Gepotidacin is a triazaacenaphthylene that inhibits bacterial DNA replication by targeting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV

Trade name? BLUJEPA® !!!

Salmonella wants in on these food recalls.

CDC declared a Salmonella outbreak linked to SunFed Produce cucumbers. As of today (11/30), there have been 68 reported cases across the US (sorry Montana).

Recently, the CDC has reported a couple of E. coli outbreaks (different strains) traced back to onions & carrots.
They have a whole page dedicated to E. coli outbreaks.

I’m highlighting CDC’s “Germs Develop Antibiotic Resistance” timeline. Long story short, organisms develop resistance quickly.

For example, in the 1940s, S. aureus developed resistance to penicillin in 1 year.
