yo like idk how aware people are in general of just how STUNNINGLY rare even this level of pushback actually is, on national TV.

Against this guy of all people.

This stuff actually makes people think twice. Something other than just totally unmitigated hegemonic messaging.
Solidarity with all trans and intersex people having their existence debated every time a tv host hasn't done their prep and can't think of any more questions

“This will include powers to ban protests outright, the government said”

Well, there you have it. Fascistic tyranny framed as protecting freedom. Absolutely fucking disgusting. Write to your MP, tell them how disgusted you are by this legislation even being proposed.
Police to get broader powers to crack down on repeated protests
The move is not a ban on protests but

Generally in favour of a national ID system, but don't like how it's being framed & implemented by the govt.

Having a *free*, standard and wildly available ID is a generally good thing *especially* if they're insisting on keeping ID requirements for voting.
