I REALLY need to get it into my head that, for personal art especially, it's okay to be off-model. Especially with a character I haven't drawn a ton of, that'll come with time. Shouting at the void here I know, but just incase anyone can relate and needs to hear it, too.

I'm curious as to any other artists opinions that see this: Is it better to try and make the whole reference overly detailed, or simplify the full body and just have up-close detailed shots for the important parts (eg hair, hands, etc)?
I tend to do the latter myself, but curious.

I'm curious as to any other artists opinions that see this: Is it better to try and make the whole reference overly detailed, or simplify the full body and just have up-close detailed shots for the important parts (eg hair, hands, etc)?

said i'd do better about getting ref sheets of my own characters done, might as well start on that with my non-pokémon fursona first lol. kinda crazy i've had the same general design since early 2025 but just... never got around to it
