I’m looking for a collection of photographs I can use with my students where they can identify, describe, and sort by rigid transformations. If you have any such photos, send them and I will consolidate. Will share back under Creative Commons. #mtbos

I was playing around a bit with @desmos.com Geometry, and I stumbled upon yet another rearrangement way of demonstrating the Pythagorean theorem. I don't recall seeing this particular version before, so I figured I'd make an animation of it. #iTeachMath #MathSky

Here is a new AB. This is for OpenUp Curriculums Geometry, Unit 4 Lesson 3. It's beta. teacher.desmos.com/activitybuil...

Check out this @Desmos activity: Triangle Centers. It is very much in beta. Feedback is fantastic. #ITeachMath, #ClassroomMath, #mtbos

Check out this @Desmos activity: Changing the Sine!
I was working to help students connect changes in the unit circle (radius, rotation speed, starting location, height above surface) to the graph and equations of the sine and cosine functions. Beta!

Changing the Sine
This activity approaches transformations of the sine function in terms of changes in the unit circle-- radius, starting location, and rotation speed. Students previously have developed an understand...

Thinking more about building fluency with unit circle, radians, trig. functions. A game I use to play with my son on our bike rides to school-- Me: "If you know 3x4..." Son: "Then you know 6x4 since it's double 3x4. If you know 6x4..." Me: "Then you know 2x4 since it's ⅓ of 2x4" How to do with trig?

I’m looking for problems to help S’s grok rotating around the unit circle, develop fluency for radians , sin cos, and locations of the terminal point on the unit circle. Build reasoning rather than memorizing the unit circle. Opportunities to feel clever! Ideas?? #mtbos #amplify #iteachmath

Pondering-- What's really important for S's to know and be able to do with Rational Functions? Why study it? How does it play into preparation for Calculus? What's crucial? What would be nice for S's to have but not essential? What "Big Ideas", "Strategies", and "Tools" (Fosnot) should S's have?

I'm trying to articulate what it means to explain (as compared to describe or justify) to my S's. How about "Connect known facts to the situation using reasoning." #iteachmath #MTBoS

New workflow for making solution videos. iWork Pages, export as PDF and send in email to Goodnotes. Use Goodnotes on iPad, screen record using Vimeo app, then upload directly from app. Put new videos in a “Showcase” and share that via Schoology to classes. Sounds long, but really works well!
