Not here to sell optimism or hot takes.

I write from a Marxist perspective about labor, imperialism, and power—especially where liberal politics keeps failing working people.

Theory and history, applied to the present, building the future; that's all.

The state doesn’t need to ban socialism if it can confine it to subcultures with no capacity to impose costs.

I can’t remember the last time I felt this bad about writing.

Hope you’re doing better than I am for the Holidays 🥰

On the bright side, I don’t have to see people for two weeks…

It’s important to differentiate and distinguish progress and advancement.

There has been an incredible amount of progress in the last century, namely in the realm of science. This progress has bettered the life of the average person, but it has not advanced their position in society.

What exactly is the principle contradiction here in the United States?

Is it socialism/capitalism or proletariat/bourgeoisie or something entire unique to the imperial core?

A former friend since middle school became active in radical Zionist circles after Oct. 7. Before that, we had never spoken about Israel or even the Middle East, so it came as a real shock to me.

I cut all ties with him. He's in Israel now where I believe he's active in the extremist youth movement

There are leftist extremists, I don't doubt that at all, but there are no left-wing ideologies that are supremacist and hateful in nature.

Hate and intolerance is very much a right-wing characteristic.

Just published a deep dive into Trump’s so-called “2025 National Security Strategy.”

It’s not a strategy, it’s an extremist blueprint built on lies, fear, and civilizational panic. Most people won’t read it. I did.

You can't access the Library of Congress files on free speech anymore.

Not sure how long this has been going on, but I wanted to do some research into protected speech as the FBI is apparently making and releasing a list of "American extremists," saw that and figured I'd let you know 👍

Fred Hampton was 21 when the U.S. government assassinated him. Why? He organized.

56 years later, his lessons are still urgent: feed your people, educate your people, unite your people. Solidarity is power and the state has always feared it.

Remembering Fred Hampton today, not as a symbol, but an organizer who understood that the only real answer to exploitation is collective power

Hampton knew that we all have a common, existential threat to our humanity: the status-quo. He understood that if we don't come together, we'll be destroyed

Reform isn’t enough. Change only comes when we organize and build power.

Don’t wait for politicians to hand you victories, create the power to win them yourself.

You may have internalized a picture of the revolutionary as someone who: rejects all mainstream institutions, operates in a tight Leninist cadre, stays ideologically pure, and doesn’t touch reformist spaces.

But remember:

Revolutionaries work with the world as it is, not as they wish it were.

Where is this coordinated effort to ensure a better outcome for all?

There’s 750,000 people who don’t have adequate shelter and food in the richest country that’s ever existed.
“Capitalism forces you to wake up at 7am against your body’s natural rhythms” no that’s Taylorism and if you don’t like living in a society that coordinates effort to ensure a better outcome for all then I don’t think you’ll love the alternatives

New piece in my American Socialists series is out.

Daniel Hoan is proof that Americans don’t fear socialism, they love it when it shows up as clean streets, honest governance, and a city that actually works for the people living in it.
