“The censures are deemed necessary” seemed like something out of historical fiction or Henry V dismissing Falstaff. Does the phrase have any precedent in legal or monarchical convention?

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

One of the Dem leaders has commented that Trump “folded like a cheap suit”. This expression has never worked for me (grandson of tailors and booky) - I assumed it came from pulp fiction or Runyon but see this https://grammarphobia.com/blog/2016/04/fold.html

It is raining. I often think category mistakes are just a philosophical parlour game but have just learned a biscuit museum has received a lawyer’s cease and desist letter for including Jaffa Cakes.

Well I think the Heathrow Disaster Recovery team have done a cracking job. I just wish the News listened closely to the CEO explain that the time to reopen after switching power supply is constrained by the need to re-test all the mechanical systems. This was not a single point of failure problem!

A cracking Evan Parker session last night in Sheffield in a venue reminding me of the Little Theatre Club off St. Martins fifty years ago. It was his rich tone, bluesy lyricism and humour that shone. Fifty years ago I think I just heard the stellar technique.

For @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social on PIP changes. I spent the last 12 years helping clients fill in forms and appeal at Tribunal. My focus was alleviating poverty, including using *two points bingo* to get an award. IF government succeed in reducing poverty through training & work - I am content.

Why are Beeb journalists obsessed with using the term *pips* - I do ‘t know anybody claiming, advising, receiving PIP using that word? And if Amol Rajan put a tenth of energy into understanding our benefit system as spin bowling we might all know more
