Hien let out a deep chuckle when the Auri woman forced herself to tear her mouth away from him, heavy pants leaving her as she tried to catch her breath. Silva's half-lidded eves were wild and smoldering. "Fuck-" "Already breathless, I see," he teased, gently tugging her bottom lip with his teeth. The wicked heat in her gaze grew. "Perfect." That's exactly what he wanted and what she asked for. Hien stole one last kiss from her when Silva gasped. His lips sought the column of her throat to leave a trail of hot, open-mouth kisses in his wake. "That didn't take long at all, sweetheart." Smug bastard. "I- S-shut up!" she laughed. The light and breathy sound twisted into a moan when she felt blunt teeth graze over a sensitive patch of skin between a set of ivory scales on the side of her neck. A slight shudder went through Silva as his breath was warm over her rapid pulse. "And who said that I was done kissing you, Hien? Who? Because it certainly wasn't- 0-ohhh..." Her head spun when his mouth latched onto the spot and sucked. A sigh of his name escaped her lips. followed by a mewl when he sucked again and dragged his tongue over the blooming red mark. The beautiful sting faded into something dull. His low hum of satisfaction rang in her horns, and made heat pool low in her belly. "Silly girl, I'm far from finished," Hien mouthed against her skin

A while ago, I got the idea to let Esteem come out to play/cause some chaos with Ricmorn, considering he's a dark knight when he's not a bard or white mage/sage. So here's a little snippet I've been experimenting with to see if I'll roll with it, and uh... it's been VERY interesting 👀

Ricmorn turned to look at her, his sky-blue eyes filled with so many emotions that it made her chest ache. "I know," he agreed. He flexed his fingers — the hand not holding a bowl — the white leather of his glove creaking as his palm closed into a tight fist. "I do. But what happened to you shouldn't have happened in the first place if they had been patient and answered our questions. No one should have put their hands on you. Period." “No one is disagreeing with that fact,” she pointed out. "You didn't even get an apology for their rashness!" he scoffed. His beige-scaled tail swished in the grass behind him as a low growl shook his chest. "And now we have to spend a week here to prove our worth for our victories in Bardam's and to fight in the Naadam after all that? I just… This was not how it was all supposed to go. You can’t fault me for being angry." Angry wasn’t the word he would use to describe the emotion sizzling in his blood. That word was an understatement. He was pissed. Beyond fucking infuriated. His aether buzzed just under the surface of his skin, not with healing magic, but with the rush of aero and crushing earth — the need to defend and protect. To make sure nothing or no one would hurt Silva. Or even dare to. Part of Ricmorn understood he was overreacting. The danger had already passed, and his wife was safe at his side with a minor injury. And yet… There was another part of him deep down that couldn’t quite settle. A place in his soul where peace and calm felt far away. Something… dark. Lurking in the blackest of shadows with a grin of malice. “Let me out…” a voice — he — whispered in the back of his mind. “Let me be the judge, jury, and executioner of who caused our beloved undue harm. Show everyone just how far you will go for her.” No. He would not do that. He was better than that — stronger than that. "You say no, but the seething rage of watching another man lay his hands on your precious mate says otherwise." The shadow laughed. "Let me free, and this will end quickly." "Enough of this! Begone!" Ricmorn snarled in his mind, attempting to shove the voice back into the dark place it belonged. A flash of sky-blue eyes — a gaze that matched his own — narrowed and stared him down. “Pity… What a fool you are. What would Silva think of you? Would she see this as another one of your failures, another time you couldn’t protect her?”
