Capturing speech @ Google
Reading an advertising book from 1980, it's hilarious how poorly the examples have aged:
- "SF will never catch on as a term, Frisco already exists as shorthand"
- "Avis never going to overtake Hertz" (Avis is 2x market cap today)
- "Don't bother competing with IBM in computers"

New post => "How Computers Perceive Sound" https://blog.sidharthr.com/how-computers-perceive-sound

Fun quote from a newspaper ad 200 years ago when the first phonograph was put on exhibition: "We have no record of a greater discovery as far back as history extends"

I have said for years the only thing you really own on the internet is a domain name, and if you can maintain the discipline and financials, you need to center your identity on it. BlueSky makes it very clear DNS is a critical arbiter. Buy your domain. Preferably .com if you can.

I've been using Artefact recently for news. Just realized they have practically no way to get the OP's link (besides opening the link in a separate browser, then copying after redirect). Definitely intentional. Definitely not cool.

making a verification based on dns is lowkey genius.

...but on the flip side, don't feel like throwing away a first name handle now lol 🤷

it's kinda nostalgic to see all the data consistency bugs of an early social network, like seeing an old friend after a while.
