Delight at the clarity here

Reminded of this poem reading a lot of takes about the Darlington Nurses on here.

To be explicit they deserve their dignity and respect as much as any trans person.

This is why I find eating octopus morally conflicting. They are intelligent in ways we don't understand and can't fully define, but they're also arseholes and kind of deserve it.
We experienced a truly incredible moment at the aquarium when this octopus decided to be a total jerk to its tankmate.

I think they’re right to call out our chronic miserablism and TDS. We will live in wonderful times, soaked in miracles and all we do is we worry about a merchantilist president.

For goodness sake America is deporting fewer people than ever before. A criminal shooting by police is hardly a new thing.

I wish you’d argue with his arguments as opposed to go conspiracy mode? His funders are less relevant than his arguments.

For instance Ian - is it ok to say “Charlie Kirk got shot, let’s fucking go” and be head of an organisation?

Are you sure? Seems like a pretty warm time there

I looked into it a while back and just realised a second hand iPhone is better, sustainably speaking, as it’s recycled by Apple at the end of its life and is built to last.

Fairphone is just marketing and signalling.

I think Apple offering up a creative Suite will also hurt. Hoping for the same thing to happen to Autodesk.

I don’t think that’s realistic. If we accept your logic, then any boundary anyone wants becomes ‘forcing’ others to accommodate bigotry. Should Muslim women who want female-only swimming hours also be compared to racists? Should anyone who wants any sex-separated space be treated as a homophobe?

Clear, everyday understanding of female experience of sex based harrasment from the Darlington nurses tribunal.

No one is saying all men are the danger.

I was struck by this defence by a doctor how he just dismissed palatability issues. Almost sneering.

Personally I think skimmed milk is disgusting. No idea if we should ban 2% fat milk in favour of lower fat unpalatable milk.

Bill Watterson is my favorite cartoonist. I adored the relationship btw Calvin and Hobbes as a child. But as I've gotten older, these strips feel even more tender and insightful. My respect for him grew when I learned of his stance against merchandising. Such principles are almost unheard of today.

"I think it is naive, frankly, to say that we should get rid of him because he’s a bad person," the new UK Royal Society president says of Elon Musk's membership.

The society would have expelled Isaac Newton if it made judgments on character & behaviour, Paul Nurse says.

Idly curious if you think shutting down all the apps would actually help the core problem.

Seems to be a problem across all SM.

Yeah I kind of agree, social media has really exposed humanity for who they are.

See post linked below. Wish they’d start here.

CSAM content has risen 10x week-over-week. While we detect confirmed cases quickly, manual review is still necessary for NCMEC reports. This increase impacts our mods, who are repeatedly exposed to such content. 4/7

Is your solution to ban it? Should a platform be fined for CSAM?

Great @economist.com piece by @matthewholehouse.bsky.social on state capacity. Am convinced next election winner will be who convinces people Government can actually just *do things* & politicians aren’t powerless to make good on promises.
