For #FindsFriday a map of Danish single finds of Carolingian coins from 2016 to 2025, most unpublished. This is for a chapter in a book being edited by @ccooijmans.bsky.social. It shows that Frankish coins were reaching all parts of Denmark, not just trading centres or royal estates.

The Hunterston Brooch was the star of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland meeting #OTD in 1831. Dating from c. AD 700, the silver and gold item was found in Ayrshire in 1826/30. Scandinavian runes name an owner, Máel Brigte, on the back. The society bought it 60 years later. #medievalsky

NEW from the Corpus of Early Medieval Latin Medicine... our handlist of the 198(!!!) pre-1000 manuscripts with medical texts not included in the standard catalogues.
It's been a productive first phase for the project... but a lot of work still to do!

Happens all the time
Went to see the Tissington Well Dressings yesterday and they were fantastic! Also got to see loads of sheep, lamb, cattle, horses, goats, a few alpaca and heritage chicken. Lovely village!

Just got out of the cinema from seeing Flow. It is truly a unique and very special experience. Truly beautiful. I absolutely loved it and recommend it highly. It deserves to be seen and everyone should do themselves the kindness of viewing it. To top it off my ticket was all of £2.75!!!

Republicans in West Virginia passed a bill that would allow health care providers to “visually or physically examine a minor child” for the purpose of identifying their “biological sex” without the “consent of the child’s parent, guardian, or custodian.”
