Makes sense. Mind blown.
On April 10, 1925, a young writer published his 3rd novel – a commercial & critical disappointment about a man passing for white

100 years later, Pulitzer Prize-winner Wesley Lowery reveals the secret hidden inside a piece of America's literary canon...

And how "The Great Gatsby" became white
Gatsby’s Secret
Read as the story of a passing Black man, "The Great Gatsby" is the great American novel.

Turns out, one of the best things I’ve started to do in my late 40’s is go to street dance classes.

There are at least 2 articles in today’s Sunday Times which read like April Fool’s - but a day early.

I learned this week that you can put our troops' lives in danger, compromise our national security, and violate the Espionage Act. And the government will do nothing.

But if you write an editorial for your school newspaper that Trump doesn't like, you will be abducted on the street and disappeared.

Seriously considering going to a ploughing match tomorrow. Words I never thought I would utter.

The NY Times review of Operation Mincemeat does not make me trust the reviewer. ““Sail on, Boys,” an anthem in the style of Elton John”…it really isn’t. It’s a choral sea shanty, and it’s brilliant.

Feel like the “big bow in hair” style is a bit too Trad wife-ish.

Having just watched A Complete Unknown, I really hope Anora and The Apprentice win all the awards going tonight. They are the films with spark…

We have a large collection of sketches by costume designer Richard Croft, who worked on television shows including Dr Who, Blackadder and By the Sword Divided. However, we know very little about him.

I’ve read several longreads about the Murdochs, and I’ve only just realised I’ve been thinking that Lachlan is Jamie Packer.

Last night I went to my first dance class since the 80’s…I think I’m still coming down from the high of it, it was such fun.

Having watched The Apprentice I’m wondering why the actors aren’t being given more Oscar buzz…their performances are much more nuanced than those in Conclave/A Real Pain etc etc

I heard the words “freedom of movement” on the news this morning, so obviously today’s ear worm is Freedom of Music by @rhodri.biz.

I think I might start reading some of the old classics. ‘Going Down with Janis’ starts with a hell of a bang, literally.
