I think a big plus are the ones where they take a lot of the widescreen real estate and put stats in it like scoring & combo stuff. Garegga 2016 is a prime example.

A minus would be companies that don't concentrate on framerate/lag with re-issues/ports. City Connection has a bad rep for that
Battle Garegga Rev 2016. The left and right sides of the screen show a bunch of stats. The point is that the original game was game-screen only due to the orientation. With today's 16:9 standard, they used these for the real estate instead of just having wallpaper or black.
