Wow. The AI scammers are crazy persistent but this is the first time I’ve seen a threat like this. Kind of like a mashup of the book club scam and those “stop marketing your book or I’ll steal it” fake extortion threats some writers are getting
Book club scams are now threatening authors who don't fall for their BS. In December, I received an email from Herry Sharp, so-called CEO of "Super Book Lover Curator" praising my novella We Who Hunt Alexanders.

Totally AI-generated and a scam so I didn't respond.

Now Herry is threatening me. 1/

Highly recommend Dr. Afua Cooper’s book “The Hanging of Angelique” to read more on her life and times. #BookSky #CanLit
Marie-Joseph Angélique was an enslaved woman who ran away from her enslaver but was recaptured.
Shortly after, a fire destroyed 25% of Montreal. Angelique was put to death for the disaster.
This is her story.

You may laugh, but the Macbeths are a much better role model for a marriage than Romeo and Juliet. They discuss their problems (killing the king of Scotland), share their hobbies (killing the king of Scotland), and resolve their conflicts (by killing the king of Scotland).

I stopped by the other day and they had a wonderful selection of books. If you are passing through Union Station, be sure to visit them.
Toronto independent booksellers Hopeless Romantic Bookshop and Little Ghosts Books co-host a pop-up bookstore at Union Station. Click here for the full story: https://bit.ly/4rHEZKO

My Manitoba people: @healey.bsky.social’s play ROGERS v ROGERS, based on @alexposadzki.bsky.social’s book, opens next week at MTC. This is not just a Toronto story. If you pay for a cell phone, buy groceries, or have a dad, this is one for you.

On this date in 1876, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at King and Simcoe was officially dedicated. The four corners of King and Simcoe were known as SALVATION (St. Andrew's), LEGISLATION (Government House), EDUCATION (Upper Canada College) and DAMNATION (British Tavern).

On top of this, the Liberal government is cutting 70 jobs at Library and Archives Canada and cutting its annual budget by $22.1 million permanently.

So much truthful and authentic evidence of Canada's history is endangered.

Unlike the USA, Canada has only one source of federal funding for archives, the DHCP:

The Carney Liberal government just cut the DHCP permanently.

I can't even begin to say how disgusted and angry I am. There is NO OTHER SOURCE of program funding for archives.

Spent some time looking at the History display table at my local bookstore.

Of the 48 books displayed, only 6 were written by women. Of those 6, 5 were memoirs.

None of 42 books written by men were memoirs.
