The suspension of obstetrical services in Cold Lake is unacceptable. Families in Cold Lake and across Alberta deserve access to safe, reliable care close to home, not months of uncertainty.

It’s always such a moving experience to witness people from around the world take the Oath of Citizenship and officially become Canadians.

Last year emergency departments in Alberta were closed for more than 34,000 hours. Of those emergency departments that were open, over 200,000 Albertans gave up before seeing a doctor.

Respiratory illness season is now upon us and hospitals in Edmonton and Calgary are already beyond full. The UCP government could have shown leadership in respect of public health workers. Instead they fired some and silenced others, resulting in the largest measles outbreak in North America.

It was such an honour to attend the swearing-in of the newly elected Edmonton Public School Board trustees with my colleagues yesterday! Congratulations to Holly Nichol on being elected to represent Ward C, and to all trustees who will serve our students and families over the next four years.

The UCP told us that we would see a draft report of the Corrupt Care investigation on May 30th. Then they said June, then September, then October 15th.
Well, that day has come and gone.
We have been calling for a fully independent public inquiry.
