I got a heck of a lot more followers here recently so quick intro! I'm Shelley, a genderqueer (trans) Canadian horror writer. Last summer I released a gay pirate novella with monsters and romance with my best friend @lormaggot.bsky.social. It's called The Flesh Of the Sea and you should check it out

Friends, I got to see a proof of the forthcoming Tales of Sley House 2025, edited by Lillian Ehrhart, and I CAN'T WAIT for you all to see it!

If you're a fan of Creepshow, you're gonna love the inspiration - and the interior - of this anthology.

Also, I get to share this TOC with...

During this sapphic September, how about adding a bit of toxic yuri to your diet? Enamoured: A Triptych is a historic, erotic, horror novella about love and makeup and capitalism.
Come for the steamy scenes and… well… you know 😉

Why had no one told me about how amazing In Fabric is? When a movie has a credit for mannequin pubic hair you KNOW you're in for a wild ride. Extremely bizarre department stores, hypnotic laundry repair men, a very killer dress, what more could you possibly need?

Writing smut is so much more fun than writing anything else. Well except for gory gooshy gross smut. That’s probably peak.

Three-lobed gave a home to one of my favourite stories of all time (www.3lobedmag.com/issue43/3lbe...) and I will always be grateful for them. They’ve also published some truly incredible work, too many to name in a post. Please support them if you can!

Honestly too many to name, so I'll just name the incredible @lormaggot.ca : writer, editor, sharer of good and horrific things. Go pick up a copy of "The Flesh of the Sea" (co-written with @shelleylavigne.bsky.social ) and keep your eyes out for the upcoming "Cosmic Dyke Patrol"
#HorrorWritersChat question 4 (last question but stick around in ten minutes for the outro):

It’s a difficult time for indie authors. Tell us about an indie horror author and their book that you read and enjoyed that others should read this autumn.

My year long writing dry spell is OVER and wow I’d forgotten how good it feels to really sink into a character filled with idiosyncrasies and strange worlds. I feel ALIVE!

I have a story in this!! It’s available for free through the lite version if you want to check it and the other amazing stories out!
It’s got some body horror, non linear story telling and hire than usual tongue per capita ratio 👅
A little late this month on the COVER REVEAL, but better late than never!

Thanks to Helge C. Balzer for the fantastic art.

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY TO THE MAIDEN VOYAGE OF THE FLESH OF THE SEA🥳🐠🐡
(A little bit late but what is time keeping?)
Though the waters were rocky and the skies were often covered, it was a grand adventure and I couldn’t have been happier to do it alongside my co-captain @lormaggot.ca

Why is it that every time I start a story thinking “oh this is going to be a fun one” it goes depressing? I might be cursed

I messed up with my library holds and had to go pick up A TON of books. On the bright side, I’ve got plenty of books to chose from now! On the not so bright side, sixteen books is a lot of pressure.
Still not sure what the max number of books I can have put at once and I’m scared to find out.

very little beats the feeling of figuring out what is wrong with a project you're working on, putting those changes into effect and realize what you've come up with is even better than you thought it would be!

You can't defend gore, violent, gruesome media without defending sex and erotic media. Both go hand in hand, there's eroticism in the grotesque, theres horror in the sensual. Your "purity" about sex won't save you if you think making war is better than making love
