Good morning
A dry day in forecast here in SWFrance, and all sounds quiet beyond the curtains
A suggestion has been made that we might venture out to the local weekly market for the first time in many weeks, probably many months
Hope everyone’s ok?
Whatever your plans I hope you have a good day

Grues flying overhead
(Sound up to hear the incredible noise they make)

Feeling quite patriotic. This is what equality under the law is meant to look like.

Grues flying overhead on their way northwards. We are directly under their migratory flight path. Such a joy.

Good morning
So far so good, we seem to have escaped the worst of Storm Pedro which appears to be tracking north of us
Enjoyed some beautiful sunshine yesterday for much of the day
Lovely
R off to his art group later
I’m thinking longingly and wistfully of plants, gardens, and hands in the soil

We still have no internet in our temporary home after the horrendous storm a week ago. R currently trying (again!) to get something playing on the tv via his phone data. Frustrated noises coming from my right … 🤨

I’m off outside to peg out some washing for the first time in many weeks
Hooray!!
February 18, 2026 at 8:37 AM
Reading The Times on my iPad is a part of my normal morning routine. I haven’t been able to do so since last Friday when we boarded our overnight ferry then arrived to no internet because of #StormNils
Tbh, not sure how much I’m actually missing it?

Morning
Early start today to take car to Marmande for service. Will we see any of the floods?
See you later.

Apartment went live this evening on the estate agents’ website. Looks great!

This is how the bridge in Marmande over the Garonne normally looks
February 16, 2026 at 6:12 AM
The old bridge over the Garonne at Marmande, normally a high suspension bridge. We believe the height of the river (extensively flooded now for some days) is beginning to recede a little. Long way to go though.

Good morning
Power and water have been stable since around 18.00 yesterday which is a blessing
Going out in search of somewhere we can link to the internet later, other than via data on our phones
My eyesight (and fat fingers!) make running life difficult via only a phone
How is everyone doing?

Rather too much excitement in the last 24 hours. Hoping for a quieter normal kind of day tomorrow!

Currently on the 9th power cut of the day 🙄
February 15, 2026 at 1:48 PM
Third power cut of the day. Are they trying to keep up with my mugs of tea?!
February 15, 2026 at 9:45 AM
Exquisite
Good morning. Today's #BirdOfTheDay alt theme is #Green - a bird with some green in its plumage.

Here's a living jewel, one that lends itself to the title of my #hummingbird book, The Glitter in the Green...

A male Green Thorntail, polished perfection in Ecuador.

Just about to drink my 6th mug of tea this morning. I think it will be the final one. In my defence the mugs are a little smaller then our usual ones. 😳

Power in its second outage of the day
Hoping these brief cuts are incurred in the course of reconnecting others who’ve been out for so long, since the storm on Wednesday night.
February 15, 2026 at 9:21 AM
Good morning
Power came back on yesterday after a couple more hours
What a relief
When I think back over the last month, what we’ve done & encountered, I’m astonished we are still standing! Well, “still standing” is relative … still breathing might be more accurate
Exhausted in mind, body, & soul
