For the longest time I thought telegraph poles were done for, soon to be a relic of the past. Then openreach decided slinging fibre cables off long sticks was just as good as burying it properly, and we'll probably have them effectively forever.

I'm one of the biggest champions of faster internet (please someone get fibre to me!!) but I hate how the telegraph poles are dumped on the footway.

This one from IX Wireless is right in the middle of an already narrow footway and the future adjacent cabinet will only exacerbate things.

Looking forward to the “What happened to our internet?” follow up story. The Echo could use the same photo.
