I stopped drinking last year because I was on a ton of painkillers for my back problem- and then when I was off the painkillers, I was like, guess I’ll just stay sober? Anyway, I’m a few weeks away from being one year sober.

One good thing that happened in 2025- I got a promotion at work! Starting Monday, I’m an assistant library director!

I’m usually not the kind of person who thinks years are cursed, but 2025 started with Trump back in office, the midpoint was me needing spinal surgery, and it ended with one of my cats dying of cancer. Not sure 2026 will be better but I’m pretty eager for any kind of reset at this point.

I’ve been rewatching those vh1 I love the 80s shows on YouTube and they are way more entertaining now as a time capsule for the early 2000s. Uncle Kracker has so much to say. Every other person is from a tv show I forgot existed. Bucket hats galore.

What do child-free women in their 40s do on Xmas morning? I’ll let you know on Thursday but I’m guessing the answer is watch old epis of unsolved mysteries while my husband gets high and writes about civil war era baseball.

He said they were arresting folks based on “how they look.”
