Another vehicle stopped today with front side windows having 87% tint, when 30% is the legal limit. This meter shows the opposite of tint, displaying VLT (Visual Light Transmission), so 100%-13%=87% tint. $110 fine + the cost or time to remove it.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference. I originally noticed no front plate on this Mustang (which is legally required for vehicles registered in Ontario), then the motorist failed to provide a driver’s licence (a photo on your phone is not legally acceptable)… 1/2

So honoured to not only serve on the Board of Directors for BGC South East, but to also be in attendance at their Make a Difference Speakers Series tonight to listen to the iconic and legendary Vicki Keith as the keynote speaker. She has also recently become BGC’s Inclusion Advocate.

While the month of March can be frustrating in terms of fickle weather, last night’s short snowfall did make for a scenic shot of the station.

This is the plate after the driver tried to make it more visible after pouring some bottled water on it! Obstructed plates carry a $110 fine and you can be expected to be pulled over and fined. 1/2

A significant month where our Impaired Countermeasure program coordinator, Cst. Greg Smith, is assisting in instructing 2 separate week-long courses on the new Intoxilyzer 9000 instrument. We’re proud to host the course where our own officers plus those from other nearby services will be trained.

Please drive carefully and cautiously this morning, as some roads are icy being right at the freezing mark and receiving yesterday’s rain and now today’s snow. Slow down and give yourself extra time and space between vehicles.

Multiple tickets laid over 2 days at Barrie St & Clergy St for disobeying stop signs. You know you’re making a difference when the school crossing guard pumps her fist and yells out, “Thank you!” A regular fine of $110 is increased to $180, and includes 3 demerit points. 1/2

Great work by a uniform patrol officer. On Sun, Feb 23, the officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of Battersea Rd at Kingston Mills Rd, when they observed a vehicle travelling 109 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone on Battersea Rd. 1/2

My last area of enforcement today was the 4-way stop intersection at Barrie St and Clergy St. School crossing guards for Sydenham P.S. observing many motorists were failing to stop, endangering both themselves and the students they protect. A $110 fine increases to $180 in a Community Safety Zone.

Now on Taylor Kidd near Bayridge S.S., which is a 50 km/hr Community Safety Zone. This driver was doing 83 km/hr, so what would normally be a $238 fine is now $486 due to it being a CSZ (+ 4 demerit points).

Enforcing speeding, roundabout, stop sign, & school-related moving violations at Cataraqui Woods and Holden/Woodhaven. Also saw this vehicle in a ‘No Stopping’ area close to a roundabout, reducing sight lines & roadway navigation. $30 fine. It’s $70 in school areas, like at nearby St. Genevieve C.S.

Two cell phone while driving violations back-to-back on Princess St between Midland & Bayridge. A reminder stats show distracted driving is now deadlier than impaired driving, comes with a $615 ticket, 3 demeit points & 3-day licence suspension upon conviction, and then a $290 reinstatement fee.

We have frontline officers with SFST (Standardized Field Sobriety Testing) training, as well as multiple DREs (Drug Recognition Evaluators) to catch impaired-by-drug drivers. Don’t get behind the wheel if under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or a combo of both.
