#RecordOfTheWeek today is Great Crested Newts (Triturus cristatus), seen in north Monmouthshire by Vicki Howe.

This is an early sighting, as newts overwinter on land before returning to ponds for the March/April breeding season.

#RecordOfTheWeek today is Hedgehog Tick (Ixodes (Ixodes) hexagonus) removed during a Hedgehog rescue in Newport.

The Hedgehog is now tick-free & being cared for to return to full strength before re-release.

#RecordOfTheWeek today is a particularly brightly coloured Common Striped Woodlouse (Philoscia muscorum), spotted in Porthkerry Country Park by Stephen Passey.

This species is usually brown/yellow but can be orange like this individual!
