Manchester United. Motorcycles. Wood.
Find it fascinating how Slot's second season meltdown mirrors ETH's second season meltdown. For both managers it went very badly very quickly.

The biggest question INEOS have to answer right now is why—on a Monday game after all your rivals lose, and after an international break against a team that we’ve absolutely owned for the past however many years—did our player show up and give that kind of performance?

This quote right here is why he's not fit to be a top club manager. Leadership requires humility and arrogance in equal measure.

Amorim has anxiety and impulsiveness in equal measure. He's not constitutionally built for the job.
Ruben Amorim: I feel afraid of returning this feeling of last season. That is my biggest concern.

Manchester United are committing the biggest sin in sports: They're making them not worth your time anymore.

Loving and hating your team invokes passion. Manchester United are making it hard for me to want to commit time to them. They're becoming forgettable. That's crazy to think.

The sad fact is the teams not worth your time right now.

That really feels like a catastrophic loss. It was a must win in the sense:"we have to be beating the Evertons of the world."

Sunderland result flattered. We're better than last year, but we're nowhere near good. Last 3 results show that.

This game result is, to me, down to lack of depth. Casemiro has 60 solid minutes in him. Ugarte doesn’t seem to have 30 in him.

I also don’t like starting Mazraoui when we could use him for defensive depth later.

I haven’t actually checked but there seems to be a strong correlation. To us subbing off casemiro and losing control of the game.

If that wasn’t a pen this is not a legit sport. I’m serious. If that’s not given as a pen you need to question the motivations of those involved. Absolutely corrupt.

Go back and watch Maguire's goal, and really marvel at how much he's perfected his knee slide. It's perfection.

lol I actually have chills right now, this is absurd 😂

I'm not going to say I expected us to win or anything, but I can't be the only one going into this game that thought things might be just aligned enough for us to pull it off. I think a lot of the pundits are downplaying just how bad Liverpool look.

Is this real? Did this just happen?!

I didn't believe the stories positing that the Glazers are looking to sell United, but now that the Athetlic is reporting it, there's gotta be some legs to it.

How badly did SJR and INEOS get blindsided by this? How many times has SJR said he's confident in the relationship with the Glazers? /1

You can't run a club on knee-jerk reactions, agreed. But 50 games is not knee-jerk when it's this bad. You can't run a top club by letting it languish in sub-mediocrity, either. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
🚨 Sir Jim Ratcliffe: “Amorim has not had the best of seasons. Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That's where I’d be”. “You can't run a club like United on knee-jerk reactions to the press who goes off/on one every week”, told The Business Podcast.

What a great win! Finally everything was clicking.

One thing that struck me is how MASSIVE Lammens is. Big lad, he.

This thread rationally explains how I feel about the Amorim situation. Good read. It's not all Amorim's fault, but I think enough of it is.
Thread on the manager:

Firstly, I think because of the Fergie/Busby legacies we understandably romanticise the role of the manager and the support they get from the stands is second to none and admirable.

I'm not saying they're sabotaging the team, but Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox are both fomer Man City employees, and if you wanted to get us relegated, you'd keep doing what they're doing

Where's the progress? What have we learned as a team under Amorim other than losing has no consequences?

This cannot be the new standard. We see these performances all the time now. What are the owners putting their faith in?

Sorry but iOS 26's "Liquid Glass" looks like 90s Photoshop. This is hideous.

This is going to be a dire season of premier league football for United fans. Hope it's worth it. Probably won't be.

We were unlucky that INEOS decided to choose this guy to run a team that didn't have ANY of the player profiles his system requires. A system that has our best player playing out of position.

That's unlucky.
🚨 Despite a divided Manchester United fanbase's growing frustration, Ruben Amorim and Ineos officials feel the team has been unlucky in crucial moments this season. They remain confident in the team's progress.
