Still have a few movies to see and this isn't final rankings yet, but what a terrific and inspiring year for movies 2025 has been!
I actually think the reason people are calling the entire 3 hour and 15 minute movie that had wild new ideas, themes, and characters a "retread" is only because the climax was a bit similar (though even that had a ton of thematic payoffs set up by the last one).

I have a friend who thinks my love of the Avatar movies is a "bit." I think something movies that deeply earnest and mythic are just a rarity now.
