For all the new people here, I'll give a short rundown of what I do. I've spent three years looking for and getting seizures triggered by animations and images. Then I write about them on this here blog. electronicepileptic.wordpress.com/epileptic-tr...

So I'm half signal boosting this for a friend and half casting around for suggestions on what kind of accessibility requests we could throw their direction.

So far it is looking surprisingly photo-sensitive epilepsy friendly.

Reconfigure is a puzzle-action-adventure FPS. Crack some puzzles and bust some robots as you explore an abandoned spaceship accelerating towards an unknown destination.

Recent dream experience has shown me that you should not take the knowledge of me being able to make a DnD plot in 5 minutes, and twist that into giving me a five min warning before I have to baptize your son.
Also, it turns out that one does not baptize a child using honey, orange juice and milk.

So the good news is that I got another example to post about on the blog.
The bad news is that I ran into a seizure trigger bad enough to merit a post on my blog.

Oh well. Feels good to finally make an update at least.
Heat shimmer and you
So Roadcraft is a great little game, very chill and good for the OCD. The game does mention that some people might have seizures due to epilepsy and photo-sensitivity in general. Most of my playtim…

I once got to help a British guy in Copenhagen, who was really embarrassed to ask me for help, since he was a grizzled veteran of the London Metro system.
I told him that the metro wasn't yet connected to the central station so he had to go upstairs and take an S-train to the central station.

You know how some games show you a preview of what it will look like if you switch off certain graphical options?
That is fantastic.
It could be even more fantastic if we could also see the same thing for early, mid and end game.
Just so I don't play 2/3rds of the game before hitting a brick wall.

So if there is one accessibility feature I'd like to see every game have, it's this:
Make a separate feedback button for accessibility requests/issues.
Having to press the single option and competing for attention with people who feel their favorite gun is underpowered is not a good feeling.

It's funny how corporations always want to appear perfect.
Especially when they make an effort to appeal to a disabled community.
Nothing makes a disabled person "happier" than interacting with an entity, that goes out of its way to appear abled.

Because we wouldn't want to appear flawed.

Found a new thing for trailers not to have!

you'll know when you see it, 20 seconds in.

Without my epilepsy meds? Would have been an instant seizure.

With my epilepsy meds? "Just" a good punch straight through my left eye.
Certainly got my attention though.

I've previously argued that accessibility should be put under Marketing's budget instead of Tech Support. Having thought about it, I'm coming around to the idea that it should start as Marketing, but later be moved to another department once the features become a standard. Legal maybe?

For those of you going to job interviews, if you get asked why you left your old job, keep in mind that you should never EVER at any time during the interview talk badly about your previous job.

I'm starting up a collaborative effort with SightlessKombat!
Together we shall use the power of photo-sensitivity and blindness to make games more accessible.
However, we'll need to get me attuned to the real needs and limitations of gaming with no vision first. It's going to be great fun.

Tomorrow is going to be great fun!
First because I'll be participating online at the DigiPen Game Accessibility 101 Workshop as a panel speaker.
Second because Sweden changes daylight savings time tonight while the US waits until the 3rd of Nov.
So I'll either have an hour to chat or be on time.

Forgot to show a very simple and effective solution for people with low mobility and others disabilities. I asked my friend to print out an one-hand adapter because sometimes I couldn't play more than few minutes due epicondylitis and this little guy here is helping A LOT!

I've finally gotten around to reworking the tags for all my blog posts.
They now have helpful tags such as "electric effects", "screen shaking" and so on.
Should make it a lot more useful for those looking for a specific type of graphical effect.

Steam autumn sale is on.
And yep, not healthy for people like me.
As usual.
For those curious, it's the scanlines on the sales banner that does it. This is only the second or third sales banner they've made like this, and yes I did report it the first time.

Please give this a view if able. It would be an absolute shame to miss out on James Berg's journey through hell as he explains a ton of good stuff about production and accessibility work over about 40 minutes, while every single piece of tech actively breaks down on him.
