State Senator proudly representing the Second Worcester District in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The Cannabis Control Commission has been plagued by operational issues and scandal since it was established in 2016. I sat down with recently-reseated CCC Chair Shannon O'Brien to discuss her legal battle to stay on the Commission and her vision for a more reliable and more efficient agency.

Today, I testified before the Joint Committee on Housing in support of my bill banning AI rent setting, S.1016.

AI-powered price fixing is still price fixing. My bill, if passed, would update our laws to ensure landlords face consequences for coordinating rent hikes through algorithms.

Over the weekend, I visited Hack for Human Impact, a one-day innovation sprint where students from across Central MA came together to use real civic data and AI to design solutions for the public good. Hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute, College of the Holy Cross, and my friend Shauna Conway.

It was a pleasure to join Auburn Chamber of Commerce yesterday for a conversation with town leadership where we discussed how we can continue to grow the town's economy and empower local small businesses. We heard from Town Manager Vecchio, Police Chief Mills, Fire Chief Coleman, and more.

It was an honor to observe Veterans Day yesterday with Veterans Inc. for their annual Pancake Breakfast. I heard so many stories of bravery, loss, and triumph — stories that only those who have put their lives on the line for this nation can share.

National Guard troops across the country are being asked to potentially violate the sovereignty of other states and the constitutional rights of ordinary Americans by a president who wants to use them like pawns in his game of intimidation. 🧵(1/3)

Commissioner of the DESE Pedro Martinez joined myself, Sen Robyn Kennedy, Rep David LeBoeuf, and other local leaders last week to tour Worcester Technical High School. During our visit, we talked to students and sat in on their incredible hands-on lessons.

Recently, several colleges in Worcester have been unilaterally expanding their footprints — buying up properties in Gateway Park, Lincoln Square, and more. While we are thrilled to see these schools succeed, they have an obligation to work with the communities they are changing when they do so.
Opinion/Guest column: City deserves transparency on college expansion plans
What is needed are new tools and commitments to strengthen the city’s tax base and create jobs for Worcester residents and local college graduates.

Worcester's Hill-O-Ween is always one of my favorite events of the year, and this year's was no different! It was so much fun handing out candy and meeting neighbors on Union Hill Friday.

Today, I had the opportunity to testify in favor of S.1343, a bill that would allow legislative staffers the right to form a union. This has been an effort years in the making — dozens of Senate staff, including two of my former Chiefs of Staff, have tirelessly worked to organize their colleagues.

Dozens of advocates came to rally in support of wildlife and testify in favor of S.644/H.965, Rep Hawkins and I's bills curbing the use of anticoagulant rat poisons. These poisons accumulate in the bodies of animals who eat rodents, endangering hawks, bobcats, eagles, foxes, and other animals.

Anyone can fly a drone. While federal law limits how we can regulate them on the state level, my bill banning the weaponization of drones is becoming more urgent by the day.

If signed into law, S.1208 would ban the manufacture, sale, or use of drones and other robots that are mounted with a weapon.
Can you shoot down a drone hovering over your property in Massachusetts? What the law says
Here's a rundown of the basic rules for operating a drone, according to the FAA, and what to know if a drone flies over your home.

I'm so thrilled to share that my bill designating Diwali Day as a state holiday has been advanced out of committee. This legislation, if signed into law, would recognize the importance of the Festival of Lights to our Indian-American and Hindu communities here in Massachusetts.

Advocates delivered over 7,500 signatures to my office in support of S.588, to create a Climate Change Superfund.

This bill, which I am a co-sponsor of, would require the biggest polluters to set aside dollars for those affected by extreme weather — a burden that currently falls on taxpayers.

As of today, every homebuyer in the Commonwealth will have the right to request a home inspection before the completion of a sale.

That means buyers will be able to know if the home they are about to spend their life savings on is in good condition before they commit to buying it.
New law on home sales takes effect in Massachusetts
A new real estate law takes effect in Massachusetts on October 15, designed to prevent home sellers from accepting an offer based on a buyer waiving a home inspection.
