📚✨ After 18 years, Senate House Library has welcomed home several rare books stolen from the Durning-Lawrence collection in 2008. Thanks to alert collectors, international cooperation, and some detective work, these volumes—scarred but still whole—are back where they belong.

On this day in 1400, Geoffrey Chaucer — often called the father of English poetry — passed away.

Exactly 250 years ago (not on this day!), Thomas Tyrwhitt published his landmark edition of Chaucer’s works, earning him the title “the founder of modern Chaucer editing.”
