Agreed. I want to see the insect inspiration boards for each of Elizabeth’s costumes.
Watching Frankenstein (2025) for the costuming alone is a worthwhile endeavor.

Deleted my account. What an outrageous move from academia.edu.
I'm sorry, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable permission to my voice and likeness? For what now? In any manner for any purpose???

This is in academia/.edu's new ToS, which you're prompted to agree to on login. Anyway I'll be jumping ship. You can find my stuff at hcommons.org.

Who is attending ASAP Conference? Trying to decide on travel dates. It's tricky to find flights from Santa Cruz with the added complexity of shuttle arrangements and transport time to nearby airports.

Worked a full day on my new course on media in the Anthropocene and it's slowly coming together. I imagine that I'm quite lucky to be assigned two eco-media courses (one undergrad and one grad) in a year.

Waiting for the Canadian election results in anticipation. Strange to be in the diaspora of both of my countries of citizenship at times like this.

Academic hive-mind, does anyone have any suggestions for cool articles or video essays on tracking/following shots (mostly interested in documentary but fiction works too), that would be much appreciated! Asking for a student.

The images of people freed from Syrian torture chambers are giving me chills. I hope something good comes out of the regime change after all this suffering, although the path looks very challenging with the current political actors. Iraq is not a promising precedent but it's unhealthy to compare.

Welcome twitter exiles! It can be confusing here at first (but sooo much better). First thing is to find some of your old pals! We put together a starter pack last month of film critics, writers, creators and obsessives to help you get started. Add it and then go from there :) go.bsky.app/CsvD994

This looks great; putting it on my list to watch.
Rarely do I share when I’m in a trailer, but I do love that I’m in the trailer for ON BECOMING A GUINEA FOWL (possibly the best film from this year’s Cannes).

This is a project that I find highly inspiring (from the little I have seen/read of it in its early stages). So happy to see that it received funding and will be expanded in the next 5 years. Kudos to Alla Gadassik!
Alla Gadassik Receives $260,000 SSHRC Grant for Groundbreaking Animate Materials Workshop
The funding paves the way for the media historian and ECU faculty member to expand the project’s focus and reach over the next five years.
