@saraimari.bsky.social Sara - your ideas on Assembly Theory have been bouncing around in my head since your Long Now talk and I finally got around to posting some ideas that came out of it. Would love to get your feedback!

I stand with Mark Kelly.
Imagine being Sen. Mark Kelly today.

A former astronaut, who spent 54 days in space for his country, a retired Navy pilot and combat Vet who flew 39 high-risk missions in battle, and whose retirement benefits are now being taken by a drunken frat boy like Pete Hegseth.

I stand with Mark Kelly.

Ezra Klein is one of the smartest people in politics. He sometimes rubs people the wrong way, but truth has a way of doing that. This piece is about as insightful as it gets.

#CitizensClimateLobby featured a narrative essay I wrote after my first #CCL lobby day experience, where I compared the climate change battle to the NASA moonshot effort in the '60s.

Nice to see this little piece of work was appreciated.
In fact, I’m so happy with that Foundation episode that I’m going to listen to one of my favourite single podcast episodes: a dramatisation of this very part of #FoundationAndEmpire!

I read EPA’s 302-page proposal to nuke the endangered endangerment finding so that you don’t have to, and wrote about what the insanity all means for @climateconnections.bsky.social. "Oil, coal, and gas are distributed unevenly around the world and just moving the fuel to the sites where it will be used is hugely energy inefficient. About 40% of global shipping is just moving fossil fuel around, and more fuel is moved on trains and trucks."

Great point not stressed enough.
An energy revolution is underway in this century, though it’s unfolded in ways slow enough and technical enough for most people not to notice (and I assume it’s nowhere near finished). It is astonishing – a powerful solution to the climate crisis... [Wrote it a while ago; came out yesterday.]
