One of my favorites Moomin character. She is both mischievous but still profoundly love the Moomin family.

Next is Air France A359 service to CDG, today's bird was delivered the 24th Dec 2025, I expect a brand new plane smell. At HKG AF uses the best non CX lounge : the Qantas lounge. It is airy, food is fine and there was a free shower when I showed up. All I need.

The China Airline lounge at TPW looks nice, quiet but a bit dark. Food selection looks alright, with some dishes cooked to order. More impressive than the EVA lounges which are meh.

Here I am, at the very small Tainan train station for the start of the very long journey home ; Tainan -> Tainan HSR -> Taoyuan HSR -> Taipei Airport by train, followed by TPE-HKG(CI)-CDG(AF)-FRA(AF) and finally my usual two trains journey to the village I live.

Excellent breakfast at Dayong Street No Name Congee. The broth is light, not greasy, the fish is tender and with just a hint of lemongrass, the oyster just OK (not a fan of oysters)

The National Museum of Taiwan History is well worth the trip outside of Tainan City. It is very rich and interesting, covering everything from the Neolithic tribes to the vibrant progressive democracy of today.

First impression of Tainan : rougher around the edge than Taipei, older and looks less polished. Lots of cafés, restaurants and places to eat though. That will be interesting.

Let's go to Tainan with the THSR, see how it does compared to neighboring countries. With the Japanese past of Taiwan, no surprises to find Bento and they are very popular. Less aesthetically pleasing than Japanese ones but more full and hearty. I choosed a pork rib bento from a local stand.
