Massive and energized crowd in Seattle says #HandsOff Democracy on a sunny Saturday. Who did an accurate crowd count? Easily 30,000 “pissed but peaceful” patriots.

Anyone have a link to a livestream for Seattle #HandsOff rally?

These are awesome. Would love to see similar pics when rally was at its peak to measure crowd size. Estimated size: 2,000-5,000. Anyone catch that or have official numbers?

So heartening to see a few thousand scientists, grad students, healthcare workers, support staff, and members of the public #standupforscience at the Seattle rally. The message - Science is for everyone - rang loud and clear. And so many great signs…

The crowd is swelling as Seattle stands up for science. @govbobferguson.bsky.social just stopped by. Fired NOAA researcher, censored mathematician, and climate scientists are showing why science is for everyone! #standupforscience2025

Today @sciencewriters.org announced the planned conference in Pittsburgh is without a home after University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon backed out of their commitment to host and withdrew financial support for #SciWri2025. No reason for this about face given. www.nasw.org/article/scie...

Hi Hunter. Just saw the call. Did I miss the journalist boat? I’m a science and climate freelance journalist in Seattle.

Oh boy. Not liking this trend.

This is a great list of books to calm the nerves and soothe the soul.
I was deeply disappointed by the lack of nature/science/climate/enviro on many major end-of-year book lists—so I decided to make my own!

Ok, for all the journalists out there who’ve seen Wicked the movie, what were the chillingly prescient moments that struck you? (I need to see it again - and take notes.)

Just went through this with my dad. His old hearing aids weren’t cutting it and he thought he was just going to have to suffer in silence. But I string-armed him into getting custom made devices that have a tighter fit and can be “turned up” more than off the shelf models. Now, he loves them!

Yes, this.
This place is too cozy, so let me be a little provocative:

In the last 5 years or so, the climate movement had the opportunity to pivot away from No No No (fighting/blocking things) to Yes Yes Yes (supporting abundance, more RE, more housing, more building).

But ...
November 27, 2024 at 11:52 PM
I think we (the world) must create market conditions and mechanisms that will make reaching climate finance targets not just achievable but economically advantageous. How we do that is another question. But what about prioritizing decarbonization using an abundance model?

Yes, please.

If only we could get them to come to Seattle…🤣
Many commentators say that vigilante groups are never the answer. But they clearly don't know about the masked Ecuadorian trio named “Acción Ortográfica Quito,” who roam the streets at night with a singular purpose: to correct all the spelling and grammar mistakes they find in graffiti.
