Child of God, husband, dad, pastor. In that order. Also a sports fan & card collector. Love the Cardinals and love Mike Shildt, ergo, I’m also now a big Padres fan. And the reason I’m here is pretty much for #CardSky. SLOWLY building the 1956 Topps set.

Took a trip down Memory Lane and put together this digital collage of the old autographs I got at games as a teenager back in the 80s. A lot of great memories wrapped up in these cards!

Absolutely THRILLED to pick up these bobbleheads representing my all-time favorite team, the 1985 Cardinals! Crazily, I found someone up here in Michigan selling the set for just $10 and I jumped on it! Already have a perfect spot for them in my office!

Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!

Each Veterans Day, my thoughts inevitably drift to one veteran in particular. That said, thank you to all (both alive and departed) who have answered the call of duty and faithfully served our country. May each of us live our lives in such a way that honors their service and their sacrifice. 🇺🇸

That World Series was wonderful and I'm heartsick for Toronto. What a great season. You guys were so good and so fun.

I have all the Cardinals pocket schedules from 1968-current. I’d love to know what kind of quirky things do you collect?

Thanks so much to my friend & fellow Webster Groves Statesman, Alex Hyde, for sending me a card of Statesmen Hoops great, Courtney Ramey! Definitely a nice addition to my Webster Groves High School Alumni Collection. We’ve had some good ones through the years, and the frame is getting full! 🎩🧡🖤

Four years ago today was an extraordinarily good day. 🔔

Thankful for God’s blessings and care, both during Jack’s three-plus years of treatment, and in the four years since.

Always fun to get a TTM return. Especially so when players also take the time to answer questions. And even more so yet when that player is 1952 AL MVP, Bobby Shantz! Mr. Shantz just celebrated his 100th birthday last week. Thanks so much to him for being such a friend to baseball fans everywhere.

The other day, I picked up these signed 8x10s at the LCS. They specifically caught my eye because among the autographs my grandmother got in her autograph book (polyturf.blogspot.com/2017/08/gran...) almost 90 years ago were Mickey Owen and Johnny Mize!

My kids got me a Jackson Merrill bobblehead for my birthday. Glad to add him to my office bookshelves!

Happy birthday to Mark McGwire (62) and Jeff Reardon (70). I was fortunate enough to be on hand both when Big Mac hit #62 and when Reardon set the MLB career saves record. Two great baseball memories!

Even in enemy territory, it’s fun to visit statues of all-time greats. I have the deepest respect for all of these Cubs legends. Three of them (Ryno, Fergie & Williams) were kind enough to reach out to my son when he was ill, and Harry is a fellow alum of Webster Groves High School! 🎩🧡🖤

At the game so I had to stop off to say hello to my fellow Webster Groves High School alum!

Wearing my powder blue #51 Willie McGee jersey, I had to visit Ryno. Felt like a young Bob Costas should have been on hand to do the play by play.

$10 well-spent at the LCS: A pair of 500-card 1988 Topps vending boxes plus nearly 40 other cards out of the 10 cent boxes (that he ended up not charging me anything for). #CardSky

Once, when I was 6 or 7, my mom took me to a game and Mickey Mahler signed the back of my scorecard. It was the first autograph I ever got. I long ago lost it, but I was thrilled to get this #TTMsuccess from him today! Also appreciate him answering some questions.

Fun #TTMsuccess adding a pair from one of my personal favorites, Andy Van Slyke! A member of my all-time favorite team (the 1985 Cardinals), he was traded for Tony Peña on April Fool’s Day of 1987, and the joke was on the Redbirds because he went on to become a star.

Two big games in college football this week:
-The renewal of THE BORDER WAR, which finds its roots in literal warfare over 160 years ago, boasts 120 (nearly perfectly divided) battles on the gridiron, and has been on hiatus for 14 years.
-The weekend’s only matchup between ranked opponents.

There may not be many folks in Michigan working on a Mike Shildt PC, but I can testify that there’s at least one! Mike’s my guy!

OTD in 1977, my very first childhood hero slid into second base in San Diego…and slid into history, breaking Ty Cobb’s record that had stood for a half-century. The legendary Jack Buck (another one of my heroes) was on the call.

#Mizzou great and NFL Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow!

91 years ago today, in Barrio San Antón in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Luisa Walker and Melchor Clemente had a son. He would go on to become “The Great One,” a nickname that refers not only to his considerable talents, but also to his status as a humanitarian.

Thanks so much to #Mizzou football legend and 1985 AL All Star, Phil Bradley for signing my card! He was QB for the first Tiger teams I remember, and his best baseball season just happens to be my favorite one too (see @HeckOfAYear on Twitter).

Thanks to Ben Oglivie who signed my card and answered questions about his best manager (Harvey Kuenn) favorite teammates (Molitor & Yount) and pitchers he found difficult to hit (None! You have to have confidence.). A 3x All Star, he hit 41 HR in 1980 & 34 for the 1982 AL champs.

Fun #TTMsuccess: Thanks so much to the winner of the 2024 SABR Burdick Award, the Diamond King himself, Dick Perez!

Thrilled to get my card signed by 1964 World Champ & fellow Webster Groves High School alum, Charlie James! Charlie also played football at Mizzou, setting a single-season school record for receptions by a running back that stood for 34 years! #CardSky
