Gene Hackman auditioned for and almost got the part of Mike Brady in THE BRADY BUNCH. There better be an option in heaven to watch all 117 of those episodes.

Vaccine denial (or fear) is not peculiar to conservatives. I've seen liberal friends overcome by it, going from concerned parents to full-blown conspiracy nuts, saying things like "Polio wasn't that bad." Now it's going to be official US policy, with deadly consequences. This one hits me hard.

I feel like this fact is getting lost in the shuffle of current events. By “devastating consequences,” she means people will die.
There will be devastating consequences if RFK Jr. is confirmed. Senate Republicans need to show some courage, show some conscience, and say NO to a vaccine denier becoming our highest-ranking health official.

More like this please. Very happy with my state government right now.

Legal discrimination certainly seems to be the goal here. And it's hard to believe they will stop there.
this is the "merit" two-step. first, you strongly imply or state outright that the presence of anyone who isn't a straight, able-bodied white man is unfair "DEI," then you argue that just because an institution is all-male and lily-white doesn't mean there is discrimination. that's just merit!
Opinion | DEI and Disparate Impact
The next step in restoring meritocracy is to reject the theory that proportionate outcomes equal fairness.

This might not rise to the level of the other crimes happening now, but Musk is (illegally) slashing and burning NOAA. Project 2025 demands this because it provides data about climate change.

This essay has been getting a lot of traction. Reposting here in case I can catch anyone who hasn't seen it yet. It seems like our government and economy are being deliberately crashed, and this piece has some good insights into why and what we can do to stop it.

RFK Jr. is straight-up lying his way through his confirmation hearings. His anti-vaccine stance and demented views on health care will lead to many deaths if he is confirmed.
RFK Jr. today: "I support the polio vaccine.” And I will “do nothing as HHS secretary that makes it difficult or discourages people from taking” the vaccine

RFK Jr in 2023: the Polio vaccine “killed many, many more people" than polio ever did

He lies to get the job

Dear internet people, including professional writers: “Begging the question” is NOT the same as “raising the question.”

Okay, back to the crisis at hand.

While this hasn’t quite happened yet at my place of work, they have removed statements of support for various minorities from their public website.
It's damn telling how fast corporate America quit diversity.

Seems like those marginalized people who've been telling us about racism, sexism, bigotry, bias, and exclusion might have been right all along.

For reasons beyond my understanding, I have contracted ‘latent tuberculosis.” Not contagious, no symptoms, but it does require a 4-month course of the antibiotic rifampin. Did you know that you can’t drink on rifampin? Or that it makes marijuana considerably less effective? Not the best timing.

Two weeks ago, I brought my cat Cider home from the vet and her brother freaked right out and attacked her. Her vet smells made her brother see her as a new cat encroaching on his territory.

End result: Two cats imprisoned in separate rooms for 2 weeks and mutilated carpet in the spare room.
