Journalism must always be ready, willing and able to declare that wrong is wrong, even when those in power argue that wrong is patriotic.
Bari Weiss Is Dead Wrong—Good Journalism Isn’t About Being Pro-America
The CBS boss and her new evening anchor have released new “principles.” Among them: “We Love America.” They have no understanding of journalism—but they sure know where their bread is buttered.

Some excitement at Casa Powers this morning. An injured/sick bald eagle perched in our tree. A team from the local Audubon Center for Birds of Prey had been chasing reports of him all morning & arrived. They lured him down. He could barely fly & flopped into our backyard, where they rescued him.

Last night, at midnight, we opened up the back door and said, “2025? Get the fuck out here! Go on, now, get! Beat it.” Then we slammed the door, went to the front door, opened it, and said, “Ahhh, 2026? Come on in, come on! Welcome.”
Hopefully, that set a new tone.

I don't mean to belittle any author who is writing books quickly. To each her own.
But, come on. There's writing, and then there's writing.
I'm reading a self-help book on publishing that includes a chapter entitled, "How to Write An Entire Book in 30 Days or Less."
Sheesh.

I stand corrected from an earlier post. Spiking this story is pure unadulterated capitulation to a corrupt, inhumane, and anti-freedom regime. Shame CBS!

I just finished my latest short story, “Disposable Girl.” It’s a harsh story—so much so, that I felt I had to write a disclaimer.
Yet I think “Disposable Girl” is a story so good that, for better or worse, it'll define me as a writer.
Coming soon enough, I hope, to a really cool journal near you.

There‘re good reasons to be suspicious of CBS.
But EVERY good reporter EVER has stories tossed back at them by editors with, “this needs additional reporting.” We sulk and bitch. Then, when we stop whining, we do more reporting.
It’s an important function within good journalism. We’ll have to see.
"We determined it needed additional reporting."

It’s hard now to feel any sympathy for the Fighting Irish, after they acted like crybabies, took their football, and went home, because they didn’t get their way.
Wow surely Notre Dame could’ve beaten either of these teams. Too bad they never had the chance to do so this season.

Well the Dodgers union busting worked again.

I don’t know if I can continue working for this team.

And I love this team. But they have treated us abysmally.

Did Epstein have an attraction for some of the world’s richest and most-privileged men other than an ability to discretely pimp 14-year-old girls? Why did they come to him?

"#Bankless people."
Interesting column in @mysanantonio.com re: trend of businesses to go cashless: Some folks have no access to banks, cards, digital wallets.
I have a 2nd concern: F*** you, if you think I'm going to put my coffee, hamburger, or whiskey on a card to be tracked. I'll go elsewhere.
In a cashless world, San Antonio must protect the unbanked
By rejecting cash, businesses may be infringing on universal access to commerce.
