One of my favorite little word related factoids is about the Latin word "ecce" -- often translated "look!"
While learning Latin I had always assumed it was an imperative form of a verb -- and you could probably even argue that that is how Romans saw it, just a defective verb that has only imperative

This is super folk etymology levels right now, in that I'm going off of vibes right now, but I feel like 好吃 "hao chi" from Mandarin informed Japanese 美味しい .
Those aren't ordinary readings of those characters (outside of "oishii") in Japanese that I know of.

I realize the reach of this repost here is likely mostly people who already are aware, and who are just as concerned, but among the terrible things being orchestrated right now, this is definitely an important one we need to fight against. This should not have happened.
