It has been really interesting and informative to learn about the animal research care and regulations in France, coming from the US perspective
I have also just generally learned a fair bit of interesting stuff I didn't use during my PhD, so that's cool!

Today was my first day of my new postdoc; I am already looking forward to when the onboarding and series of trainings, classes, etc. are good to go and I can start really getting my hands dirty

I think it's good to keep getting mad about evil and unjust things, if only to remind yourself and everyone else that these things are in fact evil and unjust. I don't think it's naive. Nor is it wise and sophisticated to adopt a "You fool, nothing matters and nothing good can ever happen" posture
