Having recently been diagnosed with #autism, I've also been diagnosed with #ADHD. For years, I've had a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder but apparently that's a very misdiagnosis of #AuDHD.

Well. In a move that will probably not surprise people who know me in real life, I have received a formal #autism diagnosis. Honestly, I am pleased about it, as I hope it will allow me to be a bit kinder to myself.

Plainly speaking, I hope #Putin dies, by hook or by crook. And I hope that #NATO, Europe and the US have the balls to stand up to Russia. Unity with #Ukraine. Unity with #Poland.

So Nicholas Rossi has been found guilty. Good. I hope he never comes out. Hilariously preposterous as his attempt at a false identity was, I was never comfortable with how it came to mask the terrible, terrible things he'd done.

The thing that I love about our current era is getting to experience the existential dread of the Cold War combined with the ideological, sociological and economic turmoil of the inter-World War period.

It's really, REALLY, fun and great for mental health.

Seeing both #clinicatrial.gov and #PubMed are both going down for "scheduled maintenance" this weekend in this era of the idiots and maniacs taking over the world makes incredibly anxious.

I am convinced that the "maintenance" will be a scrubbing of reality.

Oh bloody hell. Out of nowhere, the thought suddenly popped into my head that we're now as far removed from when Back To The Future was released as they were from the end of WW2.

This thread is a great read. Very nice write up!
OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

My wife just sent me an adorable video on WhatsApp that she had screen-capped on her phone. What she didn't realise was that it also recorded the audio of the podcast she was listening to.

And I am 100%. Here. For. It.

This is accidental art.

TW for true crime audio.

Sometimes I forget just how fantastic and talented Beth Orton is. Then her albums float back into my rotation and I'm completely transported again.

I've just had to write a very difficult email to turn down a fantastic opportunity to visit the US to give a talk. I'm very sad that I just wouldn't feel safe visiting at the moment given how transgender people are being targeted.

I was due to attend 3 separate scientific conferences in the US this year, including giving an oral presentation at one. I have now cancelled plans for all 3, including withdrawing my accepted abstract.

We have to live by our principles. Mine mean that I cannot, in good conscience, travel to the US
March 12, 2025 at 10:27 AM
I'm the presenting author on an abstract accepted as an oral presentation. However... The conference is in Washington D.C., USA. Given the rapid descent into fascism, I have made the decision that I am not prepared to travel to the USA
