To be very clear, the shameless begging for pre-orders is 100% me, not Wizards of the Coast standing behind me with a knife and typing through my hands.

Getting to write this book was a dream come true. A difficult dream at times, involving a lot of editorial feedback, but a dream.

I really need to start posting here more often. The transition from Facebook to here has been a problem because I keep forgetting this platform exists, which is as much an ADHD issue as anything else since I don’t yet have years of habit built around it. I need to work on that.

One week since Baltimore. I wish the people I love weren’t so scattered across the map. But these lacunae of joy and these intermittent journeys to places and people that make me happy are how I hold up in the chaos we live in, and travel is, I suppose, as much a sacrament for me as a source of joy.

Nearly two weeks later, Origins Game Fair is still carrying me as an emotional high. Four sessions of Dread with amazing people, including my newest scenario, “The Street Without Drums,” are helping me bear the onslaught of real world horrors. Just one month now till I do it again at Gen Con!

Does anyone have numbers on estimated attendance at the Pittsburgh protest in Oakland today? It seemed like a pretty decent crowd #resist #50501

The only thing I recall about the dream I was having before my cat woke me up this morning was telling my students “Remember, folks, you can only sell your bones online to the Skeleton Army once.” And I think it’s important for all of us to remember that in these times.

Some choice signs from today’s Hands Off rally in Pittsburgh
April 5, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Over 6,000 people appears for the Hands Off! rally in Pittsburgh today, where the march basically shut down Downtown. In true Pittsburgh fashion, we remade Steelers fight songs into chants and called Musk and Trump jagoffs. The energy was palpable. We’re ready to fight back.

It’s time to rise.

Heading out soon to make my voice heard as part of the Hands Off! Day of Action! There are over 1,000 protests happening nationwide today to speak out against this madness we’re living in. This was planned before Senator Booker spoke earlier this week, but I see this as following his call to act.

So I woke up in the night last night because the characters in my dream got together and informed me that the dream they were in had bad catering and poor working conditions due to a flooded road leading to the dream location, and *kicked me out* by making me wake up. I couldn’t get back to sleep.

If you're trying to keep your heart focused on the work that you're best-placed to do, it is, unfortunately, a great day to use this procedure @kateschapira.bsky.social and I worked on. I'm going to add a few ideas and songs that I find helpful in this process. Thanks to all who contributed ideas!

Ok so lots of people want to know how to help immigrants right now, which is great! Here is a brief thread about what I learned from @ufw.bsky.social folks while hanging out with them. They also hold training so if they're in your area, look em up and ask if you can attend!

Worth reading to help sort through some of the cloud of terrible chaos of the last 48 hours. There’s a lot to be worried about but there are limits on what they can accomplish. thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trump-day-...
