Our next researcher at the Optica meeting is Jesse B. Schallek, Ph.D., who along with his lab, studies how blood flows through the vessels in the retina. They aim to understand how changes in this neural-vascular network contribute to retinal diseases and vision loss.

Microglia (white/green) are immune cells that live in specific layers in the retina.
In response to injury, they migrate into location of damage.
