I used to hate the 20’s talkies but I’ve grown to love how offbeat and strange they feel, that early on you get these bizarre, dialogue-heavy, stagey, clumsy movies that contrast insanely from the late silent gloss, yet many audiences were enchanted by these films, it’s kind of endearing
