I really like Noel Studer's method of Chess Analysis. www.youtube.com/watch?v=shma...

Pick 3 moves in your game to analyze

For each move ask the following:
- Why did I choose that move?
- Why is my move not ideal?
- Why is the better move better than my move?

I haven't played chess in over three weeks due to vacation and camping, that I was afraid that my skills had taken a hit. I played my first game on chess.com in almost a month and won without losing a pawn, which feels uniquely good.

About a month ago I played at the "Your next move club championship." I won one game and drew a game and got 7th out of 8 in the U1800 section. Five more games closer to having an established rating.

Oh, and I won best unrated trophy!

I'm sad that #HikaruNakamura didn't attend the Ohio Chess Congress this weekend. But I can confirm that pineapple Hawaiian shirts add 100 Elo to your rating.

Played my first tournament at the Ohio Chess Conference.

Finished 2-3 in the U1300 section

And now have a provisional rating of 774/5.

Competing at the Ohio Chess Congress U1300 section starting tonight. Since it's the lowest section, my goal is to win every round.

Failing that, my next goal is to win most of my rounds. Failing that my next goal is to win a round. Failing that my goal is to win a game...or at least draw.

My plan this week was to play 4 games a day on @chess.com and then check my insights to see where I should focus my studies. I ended up playing 48 games (over 6 a day). My rating went up 37 points to 1218.

Last night at @sanduskychessclub.bsky.social I came up with a great way to practice end games. I played two otb games that ended in the mid game and my opponent agreed to help me practice my end games. So I removed all other pieces except pawns and maybe one minor piece.

Chess.com comment section seem worse than Youtube www.chess.com/news/view/ca...

They're not even talking about the tournament, instead arguing about or attacking their fav player. I should ask AI to compare comment sections on games Carlsen plays vs the ones he doesn't. Would be enlightening!
'B-Game' Enough As Carlsen Wins Croatia Rapid & Blitz
Magnus Carlsen struggled on the final day but still won the 2025 SuperUnited Croatia Rapid & Blitz with a round to spare and a 2.5-point margin. Wesley So took second place and Gukesh third.

Great article. This is how you learn by playing stronger players and then learning from the game afterwards.

This is an example of how my chess career usually goes. I come back from not playing for years, I lose a few games, and them my brain goes into "I'm an idiot, we need to get gud" and then I climb up again
