Summer should be a time to enjoy being outside, not feel anxiety & isolation under smoky skies.

It's ok to feel like this isn't normal. These #wildfires are fueled by tinder dry forests from a warming planet. To fight them, we must stop burning climate-heating fossil fuels.

But you're not alone!

If you are one of the 75,000 people who take the TTC on Dufferin & Bathurst every day, you know this view: stuck in traffic.

We urge Council to support these vital transit lanes today including plans from @MayorOliviaChow & @BravoDavenport to get moving on lanes north of Bloor.

Toronto needs more dedicated transit lanes to move more people. Toronto Region Board of Trade just endorsed both Bathurst & Dufferin #RapidTO lanes up to Eglinton.

Their message?

These lanes are good for business because they are proven to reduce congestion. We need these lanes! #topoli

Great point- this tool could bring in hundreds of millions to sustain big investments into TTC service, flood prevention, climate action….where is it hiding?
One of the most notable things in this budget is what's not in it: Last February, Chow's Executive Committee directed the CFO to report on a commercial parking levy prior to this budget process, but there's nothing (yet) about a parking levy in these documents. secure.toronto.ca/council/agen...

My @torontostar.bsky.social column: I don’t want to jinx it, but there are signs of surging TTC use in Toronto’s downtown

The TTC & City Hall should seize the opportunity to grow ridership more. Things like undercover fare inspectors won’t help. Better service will.

Matt Elliott: TTC ridership downtown is surging. Here’s why I’m worried the transit agency is going to drop the ball
The TTC numbers point to a real opportunity to supercharge ridership — as long as the transit agency doesn’t mess it up.

Is this really where we’re at? Tricking people into paying fines for a trip that probably took too long and arrived late? Better idea: let’s make transit free and avoid all this crap
