The team created a model to understand and describe images, running locally on your Copilot+ PC. We did this by extending our Phi Silica on-device SLM, which exploits the powerful neural processing unit (NPU) that is on every Copilot+ PC.

The confluence of hardware innovation and #AI scaling has enabled something entirely new and almost unimaginable. Our video shows a Copilot+ PC running the DeepSeek R1 14B model on its neural processor. Like a Ph.D. scientist in your PC, consuming only a few watts.
