I think this is still an argument for better transit, personally. The piece gets into arguments for and against, but I think one aspect that isn’t talked about is how parking is just not good for city economics. Fewer homes, less tax revenue, utilities cost more per capita, etc.
New city data shows fewer parking stalls than the number of new infill homes built in Edmonton in 2024 — about 1 stall per 2 homes within Anthony Henday Drive. A city councillor thinks homes built far from transit should require more parking. #yeg #yegcc #housing

Having lived here for 30 years, this was inevitable. But to me it also signals how these laws restrict the Québécois from their own freedom of expression. The busses have had that for about twenty years or so. The STM isn’t some bastion of Anglo culture. Francophones likely chose it originally…
