@sarrah2q on twitter. Comms at the Belfer Center.

Television is 98.5% of my soul and pretty books are the rest.
Lisa Taddeo is one of those writers I have to microdose otherwise the rage just gets to me on a primal level.

Anyway, read The Animal. Highly recommend.

Some of my colleagues use AI much more than me. So we experimented.

Adding another book to my god-tier fantasy rec list: The Sword of Kaigen, by M. L. Wang.

Complex characters and worldbuilding, such deep exploration of motherhood, loyalty, purpose, and grief, and with violence written beautifully like cinematography.

I kept crying on the train.

Stunning.

So proud of my friend @drjennymorris.bsky.social and her debut book's publication, AN ETHICAL GUIDE TO MURDER!!!!

In Amsterdam years ago she'd ask us questions in queues for food like "what would it take for you to randomly kill the guy in front of us?"

This book has been a long time coming.

I love that so many are advocating for libraries on my TL. If you don't know already, you can connect your library card to Libby, which allows you to read books on the Kindle store for FREE. #Booksky

I have been a dark cloud at work the past few days, popping people's bubbles. I think as an immigrant it's easier to see why this happened more clearly. And there's a big difference between feeling hopeless, which I feel too, and people straight up not understanding the context in which he won.

Locus Magazine is an indispensable, invaluable part of our science fiction/fantasy community.

If you love SFF, you have benefited immensely from having Locus around, even if you've never read it. But if you *have* read it, then you understand the genre so much better.

Please please help!
Honestly, it's not clear we'll be able to raise $30k in the time remaining before our fundraiser ends, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying. Help keep Locus doing what it does! Help us do MORE not less. Donate!

I haven't been here in a while, which is a shame, because I do actually like BlueSky. So to update you all, here's a short list of things I've loved/ discovered while I've been away:
- The List by Yomi Adegoke
- Blueberry Matcha from Blank Street Coffee
- My melodramatic new peace lily, a VDay gift

The chapter "Transactions" in Emily Ratajowski's book is truly eye opening, and one of my favourite so far. She has written more nuanced takes on feminism and her career throughout the book but this one section really stands out to me.

Read My Body, you won't be disappointed!

I'm finishing the year by finally reading Babel. I'm pretty sure there's nothing more Christmassy than a well-written delve into colonialism.

TJ Klune's The House in the Cerulean Sea is the best book I've read all year. There are few pleasures greater in life than being introduced to a writer and promptly falling in love.

Just finished my first ever audiobook (I know I'm late).

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy is so poignant and unexpectedly funny. A great expose of child exploitation in Hollywood too.

10/10, would recommend!

As we fall into October, let’s embrace the supernatural vibes of the sea. The giant red mysid is a ghost of the deep, shrouded in darkness — and sometimes bioluminescence spew.
