My dream? car-free neighborhoods with one public library per 100 people.
Hate that my nightmares have become so inventive in my 30s. What’s wrong with ordinary monsters?

If you like ums & sort-ofs, this could be the podcast for you! 🌿

(Grateful to @saronikbosu.bsky.social & @hightheorypodcast.bsky.social for this chance. I promise the core point of the book is that history can be changed: no disastrous process, however apparently total, is ever set in stone.)
NEW EPISODE: ACTION WITHOUT HOPE

NATHAN K. HENSLEY (@nathankhensley.bsky.social) reveals the prehistory of the contemporary feeling of powerlessness while inhabiting a world omnivorously captured by capital.

I’m craving something at the intersection of Trollope and Barbara Pym, with a dash of E F Benson

What should I read?

Can’t wait!
The Caspar David Friedrich exhibit at the Met was totally packed today. Lovely paintings, but I need to sneak in some weekday so I can view at leisure. His painting, "Ruins at Oybin" (c. 1812) was particularly gorgeous. It seemed to glow in the low exhibition lighting.

One of my favorite American experiences was that we went to the Big E and went to a store to have soft serve. The owner asked would you like to meet Misty, the cow whose milk made that soft serve?

We said yes and went around to the back of the tent and there was Misty chewing hay in all her glory.
